Codes of Honor

The philosophy of BNI - "GIVERS GAIN"

The Codes of Honor for Lighthouse Chapter are derived from the philosophy above for the purpose of Chapter Growth and Business Growth. Each member is bound to be a Giver in order to make the entire system works. Therefore, each member of Lighthouse Chapter shall do the following 6 things during their membership with Lighthouse Chapter:

  1. PROMPT ATTENDANCE
  2. ONE-ON-ONE SESSION
  3. GIVES QUALIFIED REFERRALS
  4. BRINGS VISITORS
  5. SUBSTITUTE OTHER CHAPTERS
  6. ATTEND WORKSHOP
INTERPRETATION
1. PROMPT ATTENDANCE
As a giver, prompt attendance not only shows your discipline but also the level of your professionalism. Having each and everyone show up at the meeting before 7:00am on every Thursday is a form of GIVING of your commitment to your business, your fellow members and the Chapter. In every meeting, we focus on how we can help each other's business before we even ask what we want for our business. The relationship of reciprocity and trust amongst members inquires time for each and everyone to build up.

2. ONE-ON-ONE SESSION
A giver is always interested to know about your business first in order to find you relevant & qualified business referrals. BNI provides proper format for One-on-One session, such as Power Dance card, Masters One-to-One, and Gain Sheet, to maximize the effectiveness of understanding each other's business and background.

3. GIVES QUALIFIED REFERRALS
A giver WILL ONLY give qualified referrals, afterall this is the purpose of BNI where everyone receives relevant qualified referrals. Of course, before one can receive, one must GIVE first

4. BRINGS VISITORS
Bringing visitors promotes Chapter Growth and Business Growth. Letting more visitors to particiapte in our weekly meeting will gain exposure and visibility of all members and the Chapter. Having visitors to become part of us allows instant growth in network for all members to work on together.

5. SUBSTITUTES OTHER CHAPTERS
The practice of the philosophy of Givers Gain shall not be limited within our chapter only. Givers shall practise it in everyday life. Substituting for other chapters not only demonstrates the conduct of GIVING for other chapter members who can't attend meeting, but also increases your business opportunity in BNI Malaysia. Each membership is bound to 52 days only in a year. In order to maximize the value of your membership, substituting other chapter is the answer.

6. ATTENDS WORKSHOP
Attending BNI workshop will shape up your skills of using BNI system to increase your business transaction. With better understanding of BNI system, you can work well and help more members to excel in their business. Needless to say, this is also a conduct of a GIVER.
